What are the available commands when talking to PamBot?

First open a chat window to Skype user "Pamela Chat Bot". You can also add this user to a MultiChat or Public Chat and ask PamBot questions. Note that the conversation mode is inactive in MC/PC environments.

List of commands is available by typing "help" (without the " ").

The current channels available are:

"weather in " -> Shows you the weather from city (from www.weather.com)
"skype status" -> Returns current Skype network status (
"skype version" -> Returns the latest version number of Skype for Windows
"explain " -> Returns the Wikipedia entry for that word
"tell news" -> Returns latest news from BBC News
"tell fortune" -> Returns a fortune story

My PamBot is broken, how do I do a complete re-install?

If there is a problem, then follow steps before to do a fresh, clean install.

1. Uninstall PamFax. Open Skype, click Tools, Do More, Manage Extras and when you see PamBot click on Menu, Uninstall. This will uninstall PamBot

2. Quit Skype

3. Delete folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Skype\Plugins\Plugins\9FD39E7477634C60A068483EADE4D2F5

Note that this folder might be hidden by default, change folder settings in Windows Explorer accordingly.

After that you can restart Skype and install the latest PamBot build from www.pambot.com.

Why does PamBot require .NET?

PamBot is built as .NET application to keep the application small and web-compliant with Skype. For this reason PamBot requires Microsoft .NET 2.0 or higher.

What is the file I downloaded for?

The file you download from our site has a long file name. This is preset by Skype.

In addition it is a .SPARC file which is a special Skype add-on application file type.

When you install Skype the plugin-manager will be installed unless you uncheck the option "Install Skype Extras Manager" when installing Skype. So, the downloaded file should have a blue/yellow icon. Double click to install it. After installation PamBot will be started automatically.
